It IS me you're looking for

A little bit of twit and a little bit of twat,
A little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Of all things confusing that your mind does explore,
Crystal clear it be - it IS me you're looking for.

You grumble and you moan, and you grunt and you groan
That life isn't fair and luck's left you alone;
Well here is your chance through the happy-happy door,
My silly darling, it IS me you're looking for.

Life throws lemons you make lemonade,
Did life throw gators to make gatorade?
Twisted my humor be but did not you smile before;
Laugh now coz really, it IS me you're looking for.

We're awake and we talk, and we talk as we walk;
All the day's hours, in minutes that they flock
Remind me and you of you and me, all the twenty four.
Now tell me baby is it not: it IS me you're looking for.

And if ever you sound distant, and not ready to dance,
And unsure if love will ever give you a second chance;
Do not turn deaf as Cupid seems to implore
O will you now just let it rest - it IS me you're looking for.

Of all the things big and small, of all that we err;
Miss not the one thing answered in your prayer.
You and I are symphony, a melody so pure.
By now even you know - it's ME you're looking for.

At Dawn I see

Few moments have stolen my dreams, the dreams that may never come true;
And yet each moment has seemed like a vast ocean hurling at the lonely sand.
Wanting to ride the winds of love, they rise and sing,
Only to hit the shores of life and turn white.

Folly of a heart apart, conjures many a trick to the eye.
Folly of a mind bereft, urges the heart to conjure.
And as hands still retain the touch so cherished,
Every broken picture appears, to blame. To endure.

Unstoppable is time, they say, and each bides his own;
But nights move slower after, than slower-nights moved before.
And for all the pain I hold in my heart,
At Dawn I see my soul's sustenance and I hope.

Unsung Melodies - Part 3

They spoke no word, their eyes talked,
Their fingers entangled a sublime touch.
None thought about any but them
There were only those moments such.

He followed her walk, her fragrance, her beauty;
Into the streets and alleys and hills.
The melancholy soldier regained his strengths,
regained his spirit and his skills.

He did not even know her name
And over a month did he stay,
Sensing the time to leave may be in the vicinity
he gathered up the courage to say.

Unsung Melodies - Part 2

Hell hath infernos - so he was told,
But his skin did not seem to burn.
He did not see angels in clouds,
Had his soul taken the wrong turn?

Angel he did see, and most beautiful was she !
She floated gracefully and lifted his head.
Our sailor stilled speechless as he drank water
And then she rested him back to the bed.

Losing count of the hours and days
He woke up in a dark lit room;
Fighting back memories of deception,
Fighting life and the ocean's tune.

And then appeared divine angel again,
With soup and a loaf of bread.
Let no one disturb the silence of the night
Her fairness deserved sonnets unsaid.

Unsung Melodies - Part 1

'To each his own': sighed the lonely sailor
As his mates battled the fiercest oceans;
'To be left behind may not be a curse',
And so struggles his heart with emotions.

He journeys into the town alleys
Hoping to forget his misfortunes,
Camaraderie betrayed, bereft of love,
The cobbled stones seem like dunes.

Alone in the crowd, he looks for semblance,
This desert defeats the battle with thirst;
Toying with the idea of never quenching
The Sailor dons the clouds of Hearse.

His feet fail, his knee resides,
Unto the ground he does not recognize.
Miles away from house and home,
He drifts sweetly and closes his eyes.

Great expectations

How different are you? How unique are you?

World is full of people, people with similar characteristics - people with similar faces. And yet, everyone in their heart believes they are different. It is these thoughts that give us the confidence to rationalize our actions, even when common wisdom suggests wrong doing. It is also these thoughts, which make us expect things from people.

We spend our lives full of hopes and expectations. And most of the times, we're bound to fail. But we try and not let each other down once we decide they mean something to us. We wish the best for them, we hope and pray for them, hoping - they would be doing the same for us. Yet, everyone, being unique in their own sense, never responds the way we had hoped. How badly have you ever felt? There is truth behind the saying that those we love also possess the ability - no, the power - to hurt us most. And yet, they may be oblivious to it - because they are, different.

It is scary to lose someone really dear or even think about it, people generally sink into their darkest ever shadow of loneliness. We feel the same sentiments, but we differ in our responses to them. We hope we are strong enough, especially when the loneliness returns to haunt us. Those that do weather this storm, really are different. The rest are just lowly mortals.

A Glimpse

Learn from the past, live in the present and dream for the future. I have heard so many punchlines I never know which one fits where. "If it is meant to happen, it will happen" - but what if you take control and make things happen for yourself? Ofcourse, people could still say you were meant to be that way and do those things you did. 'Everything happens for a reason' - in that case believe in the reason and make it your aim. I am not an atheist, I believe in the Almighty. But I do not think he pre-writes a fixed story for each one of us. I think our life story keeps changing, depending on our past deeds and the one factor we don't have control over - luck. You have to observe the changes in the lines of your palm to believe this.

Sometimes, this luck can give you a glimpse of the life you always wished for but never thought you would have. Everything feels surreal and amazing at that moment. And you wish that moment would never end. And if it does have to end, let it come again and again in your life, maybe even get better. What is the best approach then, let life take its course or make an effort to chase this happiness? More often than not, it is a special person who is the cause of such memorable moments. Everyone is greedy and everyone is selfish in one way or the other. Yet in a feeling of gratefulness, you want this special person to be happy, and would love a chance to be their cause of happiness for as long as possible.

There is nothing in the world not fraught with risks; and so are relationships between people. And so when you make a commitment, you take a risk. Relationships and people succeed and fail, but failure of a concept should never warrant its exclusion from you life. You learn, and take risks again coz you believe your risk would one day earn you rewards that would be worth all the failures. A line in a movie I heard said: It happens in a blink of a moment. One moment you're having dinner with them and the next moment you're thinking how you ever lived without them. So if you have had this moment, make it count..Be selfish and greedy..and try to make this happiness a part of your life forever. Make the glimpse a permanent reality.
